Milan Lucic, David KrejciWILMINGTON, Mass. — Boston Bruins winger Milan Lucic still is recovering from offseason surgery on his left wrist, but he’s feeling better each day.

Lucic took part in 3-on-3 battle drills during Saturday’s training camp practice at Ristuccia Arena, an encouraging sign in his road back to full strength.

“Just seeing my progression over the last two weeks and where it’s gone, it’s been good,” Lucic said.

“My shooting, I’m not going to say it’s completely back to normal, but I can get to where I can get full pressure into my shot.”

Despite his participation level in practice, Lucic won’t rush his recovery, and that’s a smart approach.

“You don’t want to put yourself in a position where you’re having setbacks right away. … It’s probably not a good thing if I come back early and try to play a finesse game. I don’t think that’s good for myself, the team, the fans or anyone,” Lucic said. “You want to put yourself in a position where you’re back to where you can play at 100 percent, and if you have to miss a Black and Gold game or a few preseason games to make sure you are back at 100 percent, then you have to do whatever it takes.”

The Bruins’ annual “Black & Gold Scrimmage” is Sunday at 5:05 p.m. The team’s next game is its preseason opener Tuesday in Montreal against the Canadiens.
