USATSI_8112203 (1)Derek Jeter’s MLB career is officially in the books. The legendary New York Yankees shortstop played his final MLB game on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

It was an eventful day for Jeter, starting with a heartfelt opening ceremony presented by the Red Sox. Several Boston sports legends showed up at Fenway to show their respect for the Yankees captain. Boston Bruins legend Bobby Orr, former New England Patriots captain Troy Brown, and former Boston Celtics captain Paul Pierce were all present, as well as several former Red Sox players, including Carl Yastrzemski.

Jeter, who now has a plethora of unique gifts collected from teams during his farewell tour, was presented with custom L.L. Bean duck boots, a check for $22,222 to the Turn 2 Foundation and a plaque from the famous Green Monster scoreboard that read “RE2PECT.”

The celebration didn’t stop once the game started, as former Yankee Bernie Williams played “Take Me Out To the Ballgame” on guitar during the seventh-inning stretch.

Thanks to several photographers and fans, Derek Jeter’s incredible last day has been captured for us to enjoy.
