The Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry simply wouldn’t be the same without Derek Jeter.

Jeter’s incredible career with the Yankees will end Sunday at Fenway Park. The shortstop played 20 memorable seasons, during which he became part of the fabric of Boston baseball in addition to being one of New York’s all-time greats.

Jeter thwarted the Red Sox’s hopes on more than one occasion. He did so with such class and professionalism, however, that even the most die-hard Boston fans can’t help but respect the worthy adversary.

It’s likely Jeter has played his final game at shortstop. He put an exclamation point on his career with a walk-off hit in the final at-bat of his final home game at Yankee Stadium. But with Jeter arriving at Fenway for three games and expecting to play “in some capacity,” this marks a good time to reflect on his most memorable moments against the Red Sox.

After all, Jeter isn’t just a Yankees legend. He’s a Major League Baseball legend.
