Training camp for the Boston Bruins’ 2014-15 season starts Sept. 18, but the B’s already are holding informal practices and getting strong showings from players.
Among those players are Dougie Hamilton and Ryan Spooner. The former is trying to establish himself as a top player on the squad, while the latter is making another attempt to crack the lineup on a full-time basis.
After playing 64 games last season and scoring seven goals and 25 points, Hamilton enters camp with plenty of confidence.
“I think (I have) a little more confidence this year coming into camp,” Hamilton said. “(Everyone) was talking about me being in the AHL last year so I think (I have) just more confidence in my play now. Just knowing I can play at (the NHL) level helps my confidence.”
For Spooner, he wants to taste the NHL a little bit more after playing 23 games with the big boys last season.
“It’s my fifth camp here so hopefully this is the year,” Spooner said.
