The East Carolina Pirates are probably going to work on downing punts this week during practice.
After ECU’s punter drilled a beautiful punt Saturday, which bounced near the goal line and could’ve been downed inside the five yard line, five Pirates tried to field the ball, but none of them were able to execute the routine operation.
First, two players went for a jump ball and both of them dropped it. The ball seemed like it was going to go into the end zone before a third Pirate made a tremendous save to keep the ball in. The football then bounced off someone’s leg before being pushed into the end zone by another player.
Despite the terrible play, ECU went on to win 28-21.
