NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-New York Rangers at Philadelphia FlyersThe Philadelphia Flyers already are off to a rough start, and it’s only Day 1.

Fifteen minutes into the first practice of Flyers training camp, captain Claude Giroux sustained a lower body injury.

The alleged butt-grabbing center took two line rushes before injuring his groin, screaming and skating off the ice Friday morning. Initial reports made it seem like it was nothing serious, but Giroux did not return to the ice.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall told the media Friday afternoon that Giroux will be out approximately two weeks, which means he’ll miss all of training camp and most, if not all, of the preseason games.

“This just happened today. It’s the first day of camp, and guys go 100 miles per hour, and things happen,” Hextall said, via the Flyers’ website. “Obviously it’s not the way you want to start. That’s the hand we were dealt, and we’re going to deal with it.”

Center Darroll Powe, who is at camp on an AHL contract, replaced Giroux on the Flyers’ first line with Jakub Voracek and Brayden Schenn for the remainder of Friday’s practice.
