Philipp Hofmann won’t propel Kaiserlauten back to Germany’s Bundesliga (first division) with finishing like this.

Hofmann missed an impossibly easy chance to score during Wednesday’s Kaiserlautern-Union Berlin game.

Alexander Ring won the ball from a defender and set up the simplest opportunity Hofmann will ever see in the professional game. Yet, Hofmann somehow managed to clip the ball over the crossbar from less than 2 yards out.

Hofmann, 21, looked like he wanted to sink into the turf, but there was nowhere for him to go.

Thankfully, Kaiserslauten held onto its lead and won the Bundelsiga 2 (second division) game 1-0, sparing Hofmann of further embarrassment or the wrath of his teammates and coaches.
