NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Miami DolphinsJoe McKnight tore his Achilles tendon at practice just four days after having a career game.

The Kansas City Chiefs running back won’t play against the New England Patriots on Monday night and likely will be shut down for the season after rupturing his Achilles. McKnight’s injury was announced by the Chiefs on Friday.

McKnight caught six passes out of the backfield for 64 yards with two touchdowns Sunday in the Chiefs’ 34-15 win over the Miami Dolphins. He also carried the ball once for 3 yards.

McKnight stepped into the Chiefs’ third-down running back role with starter Jamaal Charles sidelined because of a high ankle sprain. Charles is expected back Monday night against the Patriots.

McKnight vowed to return after the injury was announced.
