Dustin Pedroia hasn’t played a game since he suffered a concussion Saturday, but the Boston Red Sox are expecting him back in the lineup as early as Friday, when the team returns to Fenway Park to take on the Toronto Blue Jays.

“He’s improved today,” manager John Farrell said Wednesday. “He went through early (batting practice) this afternoon. And he went through the ImPACT testing online. That came back as he’s passed it. So we’ll see how he responds tomorrow with some further exertion testing.”
