He’s too small. His durability is questionable. He isn’t going to make an impact on an NFL team.

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman has heard every ounce of criticism hurled his way, but in a video released Monday for CoachUp, Tom Brady’s go-to weapon showed how he proved the critics wrong through hard work and determination.

Edelman’s road to the NFL hasn’t been easy by any means, as he was overlooked coming out of college. The former Kent State quarterback was not invited to the 2009 NFL scouting combine, but as he says in the commercial, “There’s only two things you can do when someone says you’re not good enough: You can prove them right or you can prove them wrong.”

Edelman, who hauled in six passes for 81 yards a touchdown during the Patriots’ 30-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, recently announced he would be joining CoachUp’s Athlete Advisory Council. The Boston startup connects athletes of all ages and all skill levels to private coaches.
