Jamie Martin’s eighth birthday party was better than yours.
Martin, an 8-year-old Liverpool fan, recently had a birthday celebration that he won’t soon forget after Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet joined the fun, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Martin was eating dinner with his family at a Chinese restaurant in Liverpool when Mignolet walked in and sat at the table next to his. Martin was wearing Mignolet’s full uniform (or “kit”) — jersey, shorts, socks and all — and the Belgian shot-stopper took notice.
Mignolet, 26, signed Martin’s birthday card and took a photo with the awestruck Martin.

“His birthday present was the Simon Mignolet kit and he had it on as he was sat with his dad and aunties,” Martin’s uncle, Kevin Wrigley, said. “Five minutes later Simon Mignolet walked into the restaurant and they sat him at the next table.
“Jamie was starstruck. He couldn’t open his mouth.
“He will be telling all his friends at school –- they probably won’t believe him!”
“All the family are Reds,” Wrigley continued. “His dad Kevin was over the moon. He said ‘we couldn’t have planned it’. Simon Mignolet was brilliant with him. He’s a top man. He made his birthday one to remember.”
Martin probably will be cheering extra loud for Mignolet when Liverpool takes on Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
