Drew Clayton knew his girlfriend, Kayla Posey, loved the University of Alabama, so when he was devising his proposal plan in May, it had to be Alabama-themed.
Posey worked in the football offices at Alabama while she was a student there, working her way up to be one of coach Nick Saban’s student assistants. Clayton pulled some strings and replaced Saban’s 2012 national championship ring — which the coach proudly displays in his office — with an engagement ring.
While Posey was out at lunch, Clayton set up a hidden camera and hid in the bathroom. When she returned, she was told she needed to shine some of Saban’s rings for an important guest that was visiting. While doing so, she found her engagement ring, and Clayton emerged from the bathroom to propose.
Posey said yes.
