Buying a beer at a ballpark isn’t cheap these days, especially at Yankee Stadium.
When one considers that, it’s easy to see why Mark Teixeira expressed visible disapproval when a fan spilled some beer all over another fan after going up for a foul ball during Thursday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays.
It’s difficult to decide who’s more unfortunate: the spiller for spending $6 or $8, not being able to finish his beer and not catching the foul ball, or the guy who got soaked with alcohol after probably spending a boatload to sit near first base.
Either way, it was a sorry moment for both, and Teixeira acknowledged it.
Fortunately for the first baseman, he didn’t have an unlucky night like the two fans in the crowd. The Yanks won 3-2 to keep their long-shot hopes alive in the American League wild-card race.
