Clayton KershawThe 2014 Major League Baseball regular season is over. Now, business is about to pick up in the form of playoff hardball.

The postseason should be interesting, especially since the league will crown a new champion this year. But baseball debates aren’t limited to the action on the field from here on out. The regular season provided enough material for continued bickering.

MLB award races often become tense down the stretch. This season was no different. While there are a few obvious choices, other awards have several candidates who could stake claim to hardware. That’s where the fun begins.

As you may know, NESN.com isn’t shy about making predictions or sharing opinions on who should be recognized with individual hardware. Therefore, we decided it’s only appropriate to evaluate the MLB awards that soon will be handed out.

MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year are five awards held in high regard. Let’s sort through who should earn personal trophies in the American League and National League for their 2014 accomplishments.
