Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps Apologizes For DUI Arrest Via Twitter

Michael Phelps apologized in the quickest way possible.

The 22-time Olympic medal winning swimmer was arrested for driving under the influence in Baltimore early Tuesday morning, and he took to Twitter to apologize to “everyone (he has) let down.”

Phelps was pulled over for going 84 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to a statement from the Maryland Transportation Authority. His blood alcohol content reportedly was twice the legal limit.

This is Phelps’ second DUI. He was arrested and given 18 months probation at the age of 19 after pleading guilty to drunken driving in 2004.
