Matt Asiata, Jerod MayoFOXBORO, Mass. — Jerod Mayo’s absence from Wednesday’s New England Patriots practice was explained when his wife posted an Instagram picture, celebrating the birth of their new child.

Mayo spent one day away from the team, but he was back on the field Thursday afternoon, as the Patriots had perfect practice attendance. All 53 active-roster players and 10 practice-squad members were present and accounted for, including Don Jones, who didn’t participate in practice Wednesday with a hamstring injury.

The Patriots were in shells and shorts, and for the first few moments of practice, No. 54 Dont’a Hightower and No. 95 Chandler Jones swapped jerseys, creating very brief confusion.
