Red Sox-Royals Live: Boston Looks To Continue Dominance Of Kansas City

Rubby De La RosaThe Boston Red Sox haven’t had much to smile about in 2014. But at least they’ve owned the Kansas City Royals.

The Red Sox have won all five of their games against the Royals this season, including the first two games of the current four-game series. Clay Buchholz turned in another solid performance in Thursday’s series opener, and Allen Webster followed with an encouraging outing Friday.

Rubby De La Rosa will take the hill Saturday as Boston looks for its third straight win and sixth consecutive victory over Kansas City. He’ll be opposed by Jeremy Guthrie, who was torched in his last start Monday against the Detroit Tigers.

The Red Sox enter Saturday’s contest sitting 18 games under .500 (65-83). They look capable of playing a spoiler role, though, and the Royals have been victimized by Boston’s let-it-ride mentality to this point.

Saturday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. NESN.com Red Sox beat writer Ricky Doyle will be tweeting throughout the game. Follow him on Twitter and check out the updates below.
