Red Sox-Yankees Live: Derek Jeter Arrives At Fenway For Final Series

Derek Jeter has touched down.

Jeter arrived at Fenway Park on Friday for the final series of his Major League Baseball career. The New York Yankees shortstop isn’t going to play in Friday’s opener against the Boston Red Sox, but he does expect to serve as the designated hitter at some point in the series.

Jeter, of course, had a whirlwind Thursday night. He capped his final home game at Yankee Stadium with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning. Many suggested Jeter should end his career on the spot, but the Yankees captain insists on playing this weekend out of respect to the Boston fans and the clubs’ unprecedented rivalry.

Knuckleballer Steven Wright will toe the rubber for the Red Sox on Friday. He’ll go up against West Springfield, Mass., native Chris Capuano, who pitched for Boston earlier this season.

Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. NESN.com Red Sox beat writer Ricky Doyle will be tweeting live throughout the contest. Follow him on Twitter and check out the updates below.
