Rob BironasThe Rob Bironas story is one that continues to get more bizarre and tragic with every new bit of information.

Now, according to The Tennessean, the former Tennessee Titans kicker was looking for work as recently as last week. The paper reported Wednesday that Bironas — who died in a car accident Saturday night — tried out with the Detroit Lions last week and appeared “to be in a normal state mentally.”

The questions regarding Bironas’ mental health stem from the weird details emerging surrounding Bironas’ death after he allegedly threatened and tried to drive other drivers off the road before losing control of his own vehicle resulting in the deadly crash.

According to The Tennessean, Bironas’ comeback efforts have been ongoing. Bironas reportedly told friends he was optimistic about being signed. He also had recently been working out at a local high school.

The former All-Pro was released by the Titans in March after nine seasons with the club.
