Dennis Allen started the 2014 season with his job on the line. After four consecutive losses, it appears Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis has had enough.
The Raiders informed Allen that he was fired as head coach of the team Monday night, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport’s sources confirmed the firing.

Allen never found success in Oakland after assuming head coaching duties in 2012. The 42-year-old led the Raiders to back-to-back 4-12 seasons in 2012 and 2013, and the team began its 2014 campaign with four straight losses during which it averaged less than 13 points per game.
Oakland nearly beat the New England Patriots in Week 3, but a Vince Wilfork interception late in the fourth quarter sealed a 16-9 victory for New England.
Oakland currently ranks last in the NFL in points scored (51) and 25th in points allowed (103). It doesn’t get any easier for the Raiders, as they take on the 3-1 San Diego Chargers in Week 5 and the undefeated Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
It is uncertain who will take over as interim head coach in Allen’s absence, but Rapoport says assistant head coach Tony Sparano is a top candidate.
