Ronaldinho said he came to Mexico to win “titles and girls.” We should remind the Brazilian soccer star that scoring goals is an important part of both endeavors.

Ronaldinho missed a penalty kick in his debut with Mexican soccer team Queretaro on Wednesday. The miss consigned Queretaro to a 1-0 loss in the first leg of its Copa MX (Mexican Cup) series against Tigres.

Queretaro was trailing 1-0 in the 50th minute when Danilinho won a dubious penalty kick. Queretaro fans were expecting the best when Ronaldinho, the man of the moment, stepped up to the spot, but he let them all down by blasting his penalty kick into the stands.

Ronaldinho missed penalty kick Queretaro Tigres

Ronaldinho, 34, couldn’t conjure up enough magic to bring his team back on level terms before the end of the game.

Queretaro will look to overtune the one-goal deficit when it visits Tigres next Tuesday in the return leg. If Ronaldinho’s new team fails to do so, it will fail to capitalize on what is, perhaps, its best chance to win a title of any sort in 2014.
