Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was fired all the way up before Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Although defensive end J.J. Watt and linebacker Brian Cushing typically lead the pregame huddles, the two players decided to turn the honor over to their bearded signal-caller, who was overflowing with emotion about facing his former team. The normally reserved Fitzpatrick was up for the challenge and he didn’t hold back as he gathered his teammates together and delivered a passionate pregame speech about defeating the team he had spent four seasons with.

After leading the Texans to a 23-17 win to improve to 3-1 on the season, though, Fitzpatrick reverted back to his old ways and acted somewhat sheepish when asked about his impassioned speech.

“You saw that?” Fitzpatrick said after the game, via ESPN.com. “Everybody saw that? That’s embarrassing.”

Fitzpatrick finished the special game completing 25-of-37 passes for 268 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions to go along with six rushes for 14 yards.
