Wolves’ Kevin Martin Claims He Just Learned Kevin Love Got Traded

Kevin Martin Kevin LoveEither Kevin Martin is a really good liar, or he literally lives under a rock.

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ guard spoke at the team’s media day Monday, and as you might expect, he was asked about the departure of All-Star forward Kevin Love.

“I didn’t know Kevin Love got traded until yesterday,” Martin said — apparently with a straight face — via the Minnesota Star-Tribune. “I’m not big on looking at blogs and all that.”

Even if he doesn’t read “blogs and all that,” there’s no way he wasn’t aware of the second-biggest transaction of the summer, in which the Wolves sent Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers to join LeBron James in return for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young.

As in, the transaction that happened on Aug. 23 and was reportedly done several weeks before that.

Seriously, though. There’s no way. Martin is a relatively new face in Minnesota, as he joined the club in 2013 after bouncing around between three teams in four years. Martin also hails from Ohio and spends parts of his summers there, according to the Star-Tribune’s Jeff Zgoda. Yet that’s hardly an excuse, considering that Love was traded to the only NBA team in Ohio.

Yeah, we’re going to go ahead and say he’s a really good liar.

UPDATE (10:30 p.m.) — Martin is a really good liar.
