Anthony DiComo, the Mets beat writer for MLB.com, tweeted out an interesting fact about this year’s team during the first game of their Thursday doubleheader against the Washington Nationals.

Pretty cool, right? Except that just two minutes later, this happened.

Yup, that’s right. Mets starter Dillon Gee balked in the fifth inning with runners on first and second. Noticing his apparent powers, DiComo took a shot at making another prediction.

DiComo wrote later that Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen picked up on the team’s streak Wednesday night.

“That’s pretty amazing,” Warthen said. “But I guarantee there will be a balk tonight, now.”

Warthen was sort of right, because Wednesday night’s game was rained out. Thursday afternoon’s matchup served as the make-up game.
