Michael Sam WWEMichael Sam is out of a job for the time being, but he has one option if he’s interested.

World Wrestling Entertainment — also known as WWE — sensed an opportunity to use Sam’s recent release from the St. Louis Rams for some extra exposure. In a letter posted Tuesday on the WWE website, CBO Stephanie McMahon invited Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team, to appear on the company’s Monday night show, “Raw,” next week.

In the letter — which also doubles as the company’s latest effort to promote its new online network — McMahon applauds Sam for “exhibiting class and dignity rarely shown in professional sports.”

Additionally, McMahon extends the offer to Sam to “speak of your struggles to succeed, lessons you have learned along the way, the courage it takes to be yourself and the prospects of your continued journey.”

Sam’s invitation also was mentioned during Monday night’s “Raw” broadcast.

It’s unclear what the next step of that journey will be, but Sam has this one on the table.
