For one inning Wednesday night, Brandon McCarthy was untouchable.

The New York Yankees pitcher struck out Wil Myers, Nick Franklin and Matt Joyce on nine total pitches during a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

McCarthy’s immaculate inning was the sixth thrown by a major league pitcher this season, breaking the record of five set in 1998. That seventh frame was his last of the night, capping off a four-hit, two-run performance in his 10th win of the season.
