After 15 seasons in the NFL, Champ Bailey is hanging up his cleats.
The former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins standout cornerback has chosen to retire despite interest from “several” teams to pursue other career opportunities, Bailey’s agent, Jack Reale told multiple outlets.
“Champ has some outstanding opportunities that he’s going to pursue,” Reale said in a telephone interview with The Baltimore Sun. “He’s heard from several teams, I’m not going to say who, but this is the way that Champ has decided to go. He’s had a great career.”
After spending his first five seasons with the Redskins, Bailey was traded to the Broncos, where he played 10 seasons, in 2004 for running back Clinton Portis. The 36-year-old was cut by the New Orleans Saints in March after he struggled with injuries.
The 12-time Pro Bowler finishes his outstanding career with 52 interceptions, including a career-high 10 picks in the 2006 season that led the league that year.
