Stellar defense has been one of the many factors getting the red-hot Kansas City Royals through the MLB postseason, and that storyline wasn’t any different Wednesday.
During Game 4 of their American League Series Championship matchup with the Baltimore Orioles, O’s shortstop J.J. Hardy sent a ball out to the warning track at Kauffman Stadium in the fifth inning. With no outs and the Orioles down by just one run, it could have done a lot of damage to the Royals.
Luckily, left fielder Alex Gordon was there to save the day.
With a play that beautiful, starting pitcher Jason Vargas definitely owes Gordon a drink.
