Pavel Datsyuk will not play Wednesday night when his Detroit Red Wings welcome the Boston Bruins to Joe Louis Arena for the second time this season.

Datsyuk has not yet played in the 2014-15 season after tallying 37 points in 45 games during the 2013-14 campaign.

Detroit defeated Boston 2-1 last Thursday, with Johan Franzen and Gustav Nyquist scoring the goals for the Red Wings. In addition to Datsyuk, Detroit likely will be without center Stephen Weiss. The team’s most significant free-agent signing from 2013 is expected to be a healthy scratch.

As for the Bruins, veteran winger Simon Gagne should make his first appearance in Black and Gold. He skated on the fourth line with Daniel Paille and Ryan Spooner during Tuesday’s practice, and we probably will see him in that role to begin Wednesday’s game.

Bruins-Red Wings will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network. Puck drop is scheduled for shortly after 8 pm ET.

Here are the expected lineups for both teams:

BOSTON (1-3-0)

Milan Lucic–David Krejci–Seth Griffith
Brad Marchand–Patrice Bergeron–Reilly Smith
Chris Kelly–Carl Soderberg–Loui Eriksson
Daniel Paille–Ryan Spooner–Simon Gagne

Zdeno Chara – Dougie Hamilton
Dennis Seidenberg – Adam McQuaid
Torey Krug – Kevan Miller
Extra: Matt Bartkowski

DETROIT (1-1-0)

Justin Abdelkader–Henrik Zetterberg–Johan Franzen
Tomas Tatar–Riley Sheahan–Tomas Jurco
Gustav Nyquist–Darren Helm–Andrej Nestrasil
Drew Miller–Joakim Andersson–Luke Glendening

Niklas Kronwall–Jonathan Ericsson
Brendan Smith–Danny DeKeyser
Kyle Quincey–Jakub Kindl
