Bad news: He just took a slashing penalty and Detroit is going back to the power play.

Second Period, 13:13, 1-1: The Red Wings think they’ve scored, but Tuukka Rask has the puck covered. The overhead replays don’t show that the puck went over the goal line, but it was touching it. Detroit was inches away from taking its first lead.

First Period, 12:01, 1-0 Bruins: Patrice Bergeron has scored his first goal of the season on Boston’s first shot on goal of this game. It was a perfectly placed shot that beat Jimmy Howard high glove side. A poor turnover by Jonathan Ericsson gave Bergeron the puck, and the Bruins center took advantage of the opportunity.

First Period, 6:36, 0-0: Tuukka Rask robs Luke Glendening with a pad save on a great scoring chance. The Red Wings forward skated into the slot and couldn’t beat Rask five-hole from about three feet out. Detroit is out shooting Boston 6-0.

The Bruins have lacked speed and have turned the puck over quite a bit so far.

The B’s enter this matchup with a 1-0-0 record after a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on home ice Wednesday night.

Boston struggled at Joe Louis Arena in the 2013-14 regular season, losing both games by a combined score of 9-3.
