David Krejci and Reilly Smith score in the shootout and the Bruins have snapped their three-game losing streak. Boston will travel east to Montreal for a Thursday night matchup with the rival Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

Third Period, 1:29, 2-1 Boston: Tuukka Rask makes a tremendous save on a 2-on-1 scoring chance for Detroit. Adam McQuaid also took an interference penalty, which will put the Red Wings back on the power play. They are 0-3 with the man advantage tonight.

Krug played the puck with a high stick on a Detroit attempt to clear the zone, which resulted in a faceoff in Boston’s zone.

First Period, 0:01, 0-0: We’re underway!
7:50 p.m. ET: The Boston Bruins begin their first road trip of three or more games Wednesday night at Joe Louis Arena against the Detroit Red Wings.
The B’s lost 2-1 to the Red Wings in their first meeting on Oct. 9, which was the first of three consecutive losses for Boston. The main problem during the Bruins’ losing streak has been a lack of scoring. The team has scored just four goals in four games this season, only two of which were scored at even strength.
Boston is hoping veteran winger Simon Gagne can provide some scoring production after not playing at all in the 2013-14 season. Gagne signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $600,000 on Tuesday and is expected to skate on the fourth line alongside Daniel Paille and Ryan Spooner in Wednesday’s matchup with the Red Wings.
“Everybody knows (Gagne has) been a good player in this league,” B’s head coach Claude Julien said Tuesday. “He’s had some setbacks, we hope he can recapture what he had to, hopefully, the best level possible. He’s accepted to come here and accept whatever role we want to give him. When you’ve got that opportunity to get a guy like that, why not? He’s been loyal since day one, and I think he’s a good addition to our team.”
Tuukka Rask led the Bruins out onto the ice for warmups, so he should make his fourth start of the season. Jimmy Howard will start for the Red Wings, and he’s enjoyed plenty of success against their Atlantic Division rivals throughout his career with a 5-1-0 record, a 1.97 goals against average and a .934 save percentage in six games.
