The St. Louis Cardinals paid tribute to Oscar Taveras in touching fashion Tuesday night.
The Cardinals left on the right field lights at Busch Stadium as a symbol of respect for Taveras. The 22-year-old outfielder and his girlfriend, Edilia Arvelo, died in a car accident Sunday in the Dominican Republic.

Taveras’ death rattled the baseball world. The young prospect was filled with incredible promise, which he even displayed before the Cardinals were eliminated from the postseason by the San Francisco Giants in the National League Championship Series.
Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura, who also hails from the Dominican, dedicated his start in Game 6 of the World Series to Taveras.
Taveras was ranked the No. 3 prospect in Major League Baseball before the 2014 season. He was expected to be a big part of St. Louis’ future.
