Dak PrescottA 12-member selection committee released its first-ever College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday night, and as expected, the SEC dominated.

Consensus No. 1 Mississippi State topped the list, with Florida State, Auburn and Ole Miss coming at Nos. 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Five of the seven teams in the SEC West cracked the committee’s top 25, with Texas A&M and Arkansas as the only teams missing.

Teams from each of college football’s “Power Five” conferences appeared in the top ten, with Florida State, Oregon, Michigan State and TCU and Kansas State representing the other four conferences.

The selection committee will submit new rankings each Tuesday night for the next seven weeks. On Dec. 7, it will select the top four teams to participate in two semifinal games that will be held on New Year’s Day in the Rose and Sugar Bowls. The two winners will square off in the National Championship game on Jan. 12, 2015.
