Jeff DempsRemember Jeff Demps? Apparently he hasn’t traded in his football cleats for track spikes just yet.

The Indianapolis Colts signed the speedy running back to their practice squad Tuesday, along with tight end Konrad Reuland. They released quarterback Dominique Davis and wide receiver Chandler Jones (no, not that Chandler Jones).

Demps, who starred on the football field and the track at the University of Florida, decided to train for the U.S. Olympic Trials as a sprinter rather than enter the 2012 NFL draft.

After taking home a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics as part of the U.S. 4×100 relay team, Demps was signed by the New England Patriots but participated in just two preseason games before being placed on injured reserve.

The Patriots traded Demps and a seventh-round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April 2013 in exchange for running back LeGarrette Blount.

Demps was released by the Bucs at the end of training camp this season but signed to the team’s practice squad Aug. 31.
