Curt Schilling knows a thing or two about postseason success.
Even he couldn’t contain himself Wednesday night after watching San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner throw five scoreless relief innings to cap a masterful October.

Bumgarner earned MVP honors as the Giants won their third World Series title in five seasons. The 25-year-old, who also was the MVP of the National League Championship Series, finished the postseason with a 4-1 record and 1.03 ERA in seven appearances (six starts). He pitched a record 52 2/3 innings.
Schilling, now an analyst, long has been considered one of the best postseason pitchers in Major League Baseball history. He went 11-2 with a 2.23 ERA in 19 career playoff starts while also contributing his fair share of iconic moments.
Bumgarner already is reaching Schilling-esque heights, though. The young lefty is 7-3 with a 2.14 ERA in 14 career postseason appearances (12 starts). He’s 4-0 with a 0.25 ERA in five World Series appearances (four starts).
