There was nothing easy about Henrik Sedin’s empty-net goal Wednesday night.

Sedin ensured the Vancouver Canucks started the season off on the right foot with an entertaining goal in the final minute of the team’s opening-night win against the Calgary Flames. With the Canucks holding a 3-2 lead late in the third period and Calgary’s net empty, the Vancouver captain out-hustled a pair of Flames defenders then bobbed and weaved his way through the neutral zone.

Oh right, he also lost his balance during the mad dash to the net. But somehow and someway, Sedin managed to maintain possession of the puck throughout the wild play, kicking the puck up to his stick all the while he was sliding down the ice on his backside.

There are worse ways to start off the season. The Canucks held on to defeat the Flames 4-2.
