The Bruins assigned the 21-year-old defenseman to their AHL affiliate in Providence on Sunday after giving him his first career NHL call-up Friday.

Morrow was recalled along with fellow blueliner Zach Trotman in the wake of Zdeno Chara’s knee injury but was a healthy scratch Saturday for the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Morrow, who came over from the Dallas Stars as part of the trade for Tyler Seguin, has played in five games for the P-Bruins this season, tallying one goal and one assist. He compiled six goals and 23 assists in 56 games with Providence last season.
