New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk was back on the TD Garden ice for the first time this season, but this time, it was as an opponent.
But the former Boston Bruin didn’t have any hard feelings toward his old club. In fact, he was happy to be back.
“It feels different, but it feels good to come back and see familiar faces, even through the media,” Boychuk told NESN’s Guerin Austin on Thursday.
Despite the fact that he likely misses the friends and teammates he spent six seasons with, Boychuk said the transition to the Isles has been smooth.
“So far, so good,” Boychuk said. “I’ve got a place and I’ve got family down. The team welcomed me with open arms, and we’ve been playing well, so it makes it a lot easier.”
