It didn’t take long for Johnny Boychuk to find his way back to TD Garden.

Less than three weeks after the Boston Bruins traded the defenseman to the New York Islanders in exchange for draft picks, Boychuk will take the ice against his former team when the Bruins battle the Islanders on Thursday night.

Boychuk — who’s tallied six points in six games for his new team — spent the previous six seasons in Boston, so the memories certainly still are fresh, especially for defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, who admitted that it was going to be “awkward” going against his former defensive teammate.

If you think the Bruins will go easy on Boychuk, though, think again.

“(Boychuk) actually texted me after he got traded and said whenever we play I should give him a goal,” B’s goaltender Tuukka Rask said Wednesday. “But I hope he doesn’t score.”
