MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado RockiesJosh Beckett has had enough.

The prickly right-hander is walking away from baseball, as he announced his retirement Tuesday night after the Los Angeles Dodgers were eliminated by the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series.

Beckett, who threw a no-hitter earlier this year, saw his season come to a premature end because of a hip injury. Beckett suffered a torn labrum in his left hip, and he didn’t feel like going through the rehab that comes with the injury.

“I just don’t see me going through that rehab and coming back to pitch at this point in my life,” he said, according to MLB.com.

The 34-year-old will walk away after 14 seasons in the big leagues, spending time with the Marlins, Red Sox and Dodgers. Beckett won a World Series in 2003 with the Marlins and another title in 2007 with Boston.

Beckett was named the World Series MVP during that 2003 run after allowing just two runs in two starts, including a shutout in the series-clinching victory. He was named the American League Championship Series MVP on the way to the 2007 title with the Red Sox.
