Kevin Durant’s contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder doesn’t expire until the summer of 2016, but over the next two seasons there will be plenty of speculation about where he might end up.

On Monday, a tweet by the star forward momentarily set off some speculation that he might want to return home to the Washington, D.C. area.

After watching a commercial featuring LeBron James back in his hometown, ESPN’s Britt McHenry tweeted her hopes for a Durant ad back at his high school alma mater, Montrose Christian.

Durant’s affirmation clearly led to some misunderstanding, as Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders speculated that the 26-year-old’s tweet meant he wanted to play for the Washington Wizards.

Of course, Durant quickly quelled the speculation, but it was still enough to make people wonder where the league’s most prolific scorer will choose to play when he’s a free agent.
