BOSTON — Kevin Garnett’s Brooklyn Nets opened their season with a 16-point loss Wednesday, but according to the 20-year NBA veteran, the defeat itself wasn’t the lowest moment of his night.

Garnett, making his secondĀ appearance at TD Garden as a visitor after spending six seasons with the Celtics, became a huge fan of the video affectionately known as “Gino Time” during his time in Boston. The video, a clip from “American Bandstand” featuring an unnamed male dancer wearing a Gino Vannelli T-shirt, is a staple at Celtics home games when a blowout victory is all but assured.

On the wrong side of a Celtics blowout, however, Garnett wasn’t able to fully enjoy “Gino Time” on Wednesday.

“I was so upset, I didn’t really get a chance to get Gino in my system,” Garnett said. “My low moment for the night. You know what I mean? Gino’s a big part of me and I didn’t even get to celebrate it. But I’m still a huge Gino fan.”

If you’re new to this and are wondering what the big deal is all about, here’s Garnett enjoying the heck out of “Gino Time” back when he was with the Celtics:

It’s unfortunate Garnett felt so down after another emotional return to Boston. He shouldn’t be depressed. He should be dancin’ … yeah.
