Manny Pacquiao Struggles In Philippines Basketball Association Debut (Video)

Maybe Manny Pacquiao should just stick to boxing.

The current WBO welterweight champion made his debut in the Philippines Basketball Association with the KIA Sorento as a player-coach, and it wasn’t pretty.

Pac-Man scored just one point, committed two turnovers and grabbed a rebound in his team’s 88-77 loss to a team called Blackwater Elite.

The eight-division champion — who also happens to be a congressman in his native Philippines — was drafted 11th overall in the PBA’s draft this year, making him the oldest rookie and shortest player in the league. Based on the highlights, it’s starting to feel like the KIA Sorento drafted him for publicity rather than his skills.

The 35-year-old plans to play only spot minutes for his new team because he’s training for a fight in November in Macau against American Chris Algieri.

Pacquiao, who stands at 5-foot-6 has always shown an affinity towards basketball. He played at the Golden State Warriors’ training facility in September and has also played with Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley.
