The New York Rangers blew out the San Jose Sharks 4-0 on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden, as Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves for his 51st NHL shutout.

But the real Rangers highlight came in the second period, when Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash scored back-to-back goals in a team-record-tying four seconds.

St. Louis scored unassisted at 19:16 from inside the crease, sneaking the puck past Sharks goaltender Alex Stalock. The call on the ice was a good goal, but the play needed to be reviewed to make sure the puck crossed the goal line before play was whistled dead. Sure enough, the call stood.

Just four seconds later, Nash tallied his seventh goal in six games after streaking down the ice following a center-ice faceoff win.

The Rangers first set their record in 1991, when Kris King and James Patrick scored four seconds apart, but Patrick’s goal came on an empty net.
