The Chicago Bears’ offense hasn’t lived up to its billing this season.
Despite boasting two dynamic receivers in Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall to go along with the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback this season, Jay Cutler, the Bears have struggled mightily to put points on the board. Through seven games this season, the 3-4 Bears have failed to score 30 points — something they did four times at this point last year — and FootballByFootball.com founder Matt Chatham believes it’s because the team is greedy with its on-field decision-making.
Chatham breaks down a series of plays from throughout the season to point out examples of the Bears not taking advantage of what’s given to them, instead trying to do more than what’s there.
” ‘Greed’ might feel harsh here, everybody makes mistakes,” Chatham writes. “But when the mistake was avoidable because you didn’t take what was given you, you have the mark of an offense that will never do what you think it should.”
