The Columbus Blue Jackets endured a heart-stopping moment during Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.

Left winger Nick Foligno took a hit from Jeff Carter in the third period that caused him to collide with a linesman, who was attempting to get out of the way, before going limp on the ice.

It’s unknown whether or not Foligno lost consciousness, but he remained on the ice for a period of time before he showed movement.

The game was delayed as Foligno was attended to by trainers, and stretcher was brought out to take him off the ice. While he was being carried off, he did lift his hand to acknowledge the cheering fans.

Early reports on Foligno’s status have been encouraging. as head coach Todd Richards added that he expects the young forward to travel back to Columbus with the team.
