“Beyond Sports” could revolutionize how we watch — and re-watch — the games we love.

“Beyond Sports,” an Oculus Rift application created by Dutch firm Triple IT, uses data from cameras and other tracking devices to create virtual-reality replays of soccer games, according to Wired.

Players, coaches and fans can reportedly use the Oculus Rift headset to watch games from a number of perspectives, ranging from an aerial look at the action to a first-person view. Users can switch between camera views as much as they want and watch from various points in the game. The concept of game-film review, according to Wired, will never be the same.

Dutch soccer giant Ajax Amsterdam has been using “Beyond Sports” since April, and the Netherlands’ national team worked with it during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“It’s a little bit of a trippy experience, but it’s also really interesting that you can become someone else,” Robert Overweg, director of concept and strategy at Beyond Sports, told Wired. “It really enhances the empathy level of the players.”

Triple IT is working on developing the software so that other sports can use it.
