Life as a backup quarterback in the NFL isn’t bad.
You technically get to call yourself an NFL quarterback, but you don’t have to worry about the injuries or scrutiny that come with being the starter. And when you go to Pearl Jam concerts in nearby cities, you are a big deal.
That was the case for Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn, who spent his Monday night at a Pearl Jam concert in Milwaukee. Flynn and a group of Packers teammates celebrated their blowout win over the Carolina Panthers by meeting the band, taking in the show and probably consuming a man soda or two.

Deadspin also has a video of Flynn’s awesome night, and as you might imagine, that video is spectacular.
At one point during the concert, Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder even wore a Flynn jersey. OK, so it was a customized No. 10 Packers jersey with “Vedder” on the back, which referenced the band’s first album “Ten.” But when you look at it from the front, it sure looks like a Matt Flynn jersey.
Of course, being the starter has its perks, too. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Vedder took a request from Packers starter Aaron Rodgers, who chose “Setting Forth,” according to the newspaper.
According to the Journal Sentinel, Vedder shared a story about meeting Rodgers backstage. The legendary musician joked about Rodgers and Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler swapping places to which Rodgers apparently responded “I’ve never seen a grown man laugh so hard in my life.”
