Max Beimler should be enjoying his first year of college at Emmanuel College, but instead he is confined to the sixth floor at Boston Children’s Hospital after being diagnosed with leukemia.

Beimler’s friends showed up to visit him Tuesday sporting newly shaved heads, but he had another special visitor: New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty.

McCourty spent time with Beimler and his friends and joked about Monday night’s disastrous Patriots game against the Kansas City Chiefs, saying he hoped they “went to bed early.”

For McCourty, it was a day of gaining perspective, and for Beimler, it was another positive experience and reason to keep fighting to get better.
