FOXBORO, Mass. — Rookie offensive lineman Cameron Fleming and safety Nate Ebner are unlikely to suit up for the New England Patriots on Sunday night after missing three days of practice.
Fleming, Ebner and practice squad offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann were absent at practice on Friday. Fleming and Ebner suffered finger injuries on Monday night in the Patriots’ 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Patriots must open two spots on their roster before Saturday at 4 p.m. if they want wide receiver Brian Tyms and cornerback Brandon Browner — both coming off four-game suspensions — to play against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was speculated that the Patriots could release a safety and offensive lineman to make room on the 53-man roster, but Fleming and Ebner’s injuries could prevent the Patriots from doing that.
The Patriots have until Monday at 4 p.m. to decide to add Browner or Tyms to the roster if they aren’t going to suit up against the Bengals.
